My evening consists of: brushing up on javascript (yikes — too little, too late), listening to Meneguar (house of cats — funny because when I stayed with their roommate once, I got sick with cat allergies), and picking out creepy dolls and stuff for our work haunted house.

My flapper mummy costume — not quite as entertaining as Aaron’s mummy-with-fez-and-moustache or Matt’s astromummy-dressed-up-as-cowboy-for-earthling-Halloween.

This weekend has been crazy — old friends in town, a bunch of shows, blowing insulation, a four-hour seizure from Tippy at 3:30 this morning…

The weird portholes you have to drill to fit the insulation blower into the wall.

I was HOPING that insulating would be like having backpacks of cotton candy that we blow at each other. It’s not really like that.

jade 17183.jpgI forgot to make an announcement here for my friend Jade’s show at Art of This gallery. It’s pretty great, and it was really nice to see him again!

My shelf of weird dolls and stuff looks kind of neat lit from underneath.

I’m ready to listen to fall music, summer music doesn’t feel right anymore.

Our back yard looks like a junk yard right now. That’s ok.

As I sifted through old photos tonight, Bryan pointed out the awesomeness of this photo. It’s so weird and off-center, with large color blocks. Plus how could I not be interested in design growing up with a kitchen that looked like that? This is Missy, circa early eighties in Arden, DE.

Don’t you hate it when you have your bike at work, but it’s raining and you are scrambling to find enough change to catch the bus, and you are short 25 cents, so you miss the first bus, then you have to take out cash from a machine that charges you and you have to break a $20 buying a bag of chips that you don’t want, then you wait for the next bus, but there are no spaces left on the bike rack and the bus driver doesn’t let you bring it on the bus, so you have to ride home 8 miles in the rain into the wind anyway? I hate when that happens.

Took a whirlwind trip to Chicago this weekend. When I walked into the hostel we had booked, I was happily surprised to see artwork by someone I knew in New York, Bonsky — including a painting of my good pal Andy Gunn! I immediately felt at home. Andy (top left) is selling for $500, which is a little rich for my blood, but part of me thinks it would be cool to have!

On our way to the Art Institute we got off at the wrong stop on the el, but serendipitously ran into critical mass gathering before the ride at about 5:45. We ran into them in a different part of the city at 9, still biking. That’s dedication!

On Saturday we saw the rock art exhibit at the Contemporary Art Museum — loved the room on Destroy All Monsters! Then we headed to Pilsen for the Day of the Dead exhibit at the National Museum of Mexican Art — it was amazing. I hadn’t been to Pilsen since I saw Los Crudos play a show at a community center there in 1997!

On our way out of town on Sunday, we made the pilgrimage to the Haymarket Martyrs monument and Emma Goldman’s grave.

Just so others don’t make this mistake, they are in the GERMAN part of Waldheim Cemetery, not the JEWISH part. That was confusing.

Ran into bad traffic, but I managed to get back just in time for Jay Reatard at 7th St. AND Black Lips at the Triple Rock. Fun night!
